About Ask Montgomery

Ask Montgomery is an AI-powered civic data portal built by MM Intelligence, a Montgomery, Alabama-based AI company. It helps residents, visitors, businesses, and city officials explore Montgomery's publicly available open data through natural language conversation. This is not an official City of Montgomery product.

Data Sources

All civic data comes from the City of Montgomery Open Data Portal (ArcGIS Hub). This includes 311 service requests, construction permits, business licenses, code violations, fire rescue incidents, civic facilities, and other public datasets. Data is synced periodically and may not reflect real-time changes.

AI-Generated Responses

Responses are generated by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) that queries the civic database. While we use deterministic SQL queries and verified data patterns to maximize accuracy, AI responses may contain errors. Always verify important information with official city sources. Do not use this tool for emergency situations — call 911 for emergencies.

Privacy

No accounts or login required. You can use Ask Montgomery without creating an account or providing any personal information.

What we collect:

  • Your questions (logged anonymously for quality improvement)
  • IP address hash (for rate limiting only — the actual IP is not stored)
  • Browser location (only if you explicitly share it — never automatic)

What we do NOT collect:

  • No cookies or tracking pixels
  • No personal information or accounts
  • No conversation history between sessions
  • No GPS coordinates stored in database

Third-party services: Your questions are processed by Anthropic (AI), voice uses Deepgram (speech-to-text/text-to-speech), hosted on Vercel. Each has its own privacy policy.

Terms of Use

By using Ask Montgomery, you agree to the following:

  • This tool provides civic data for informational purposes only. It is not legal, financial, or professional advice.
  • Data accuracy is not guaranteed. Information may be outdated, incomplete, or incorrectly interpreted by the AI.
  • Do not submit sensitive personal information (SSN, passwords, financial details) in your questions.
  • Usage is rate-limited to ensure fair access. Automated scraping or abuse may result in restricted access.
  • This service is provided "as is" without warranty. MM Intelligence is not liable for decisions made based on information from this tool.
